I I give this book 5 stars。 It was a little slow in the beginning but picked up drastically after the first 3 chapters。 Then it was on the edge of the seat kind of book。 Well done!

The 4th star is for the message。 This book was a 3 star for me。 The style of the writing was light if that makes sense and also it was Easy to read。 I felt as if this was written as a movie as I was listening to the audio。 I was more invested into the conflict of the book, and the reason why they were undercover than the romance。 Which is good in my opinion。 And the development of the romance was perfect for this kind of book。

I must having bad luck picking up book for this weekend。 A weekend where I needes the most to escaped to different reality。I usually like Miss Bybee's books before。 She is a contemporary adult romance。 Sweet and steady is her writting style。 Sadly I am confused with Changing the Rules。 Is this NA or adult romance? The characters also seem trap somewhere in between NA and adult。 And what worst, I can not feel their chemistry。 Their banter is off and cold。 Well moving on。。。2 stars I must having bad luck picking up book for this weekend。 A weekend where I needes the most to escaped to different reality。I usually like Miss Bybee's books before。 She is a contemporary adult romance。 Sweet and steady is her writting style。 Sadly I am confused with Changing the Rules。 Is this NA or adult romance? When I started reading this book, I didn’t realise the story is strongly connected with ’Say it Again’。 So I finished that book first before continue reading this one:)。Our H and h met in that book six years before this story started, she was only turn eighteen and I kind of understand why the hero made a decision to be away from the heroine。But all good in this book and the story reminds me of that series which made Johnny Depp famous! 🙄😂。I can’t wait for Olivia and Leo’s book, next! 😘❤️❤️❤️

The story was decent but the love story was cringy to me。 I also felt like things wrapped up too neatly and was sort of a let down。

Changing the Rules is absolutely fantastic! I loved it!!!!I may have never picked this book up to read if I hadn’t been asked to review it。 I didn’t know anything about the author, Catherine Bybee, before this book and it isn’t one everyone is buzzing about。。。yet! I guarantee I will be seeking out Bybee’s backlist and trying to start a buzz about this book!It has so much, there is an undercover agency mystery/thriller thing going on, a romance, female bonds and friendship, and so much more。 The Changing the Rules is absolutely fantastic! I guarantee I will be seeking out Bybee’s backlist and trying to start a buzz about this book!It has so much, there is an undercover agency mystery/thriller thing going on, a romance, female bonds and friendship, and so much more。 They all balance so well and blend together to tell a great story of Claire Kelly and her teammates at McBain Security and Solutions。 When they are hired to try and flesh out a human trafficking operation at local high schools, Claire has the opportunity to put her extensive training to use and go undercover as a troubled high school senior。 The good news is she gets to work with her first crush, Cooper, who has come back to work on this case。 The bad news is that she gets to work with Cooper, who went to Europe six years ago to avoid his feelings for Claire。 As they get closer to their targets and closer to each other, the risks get higher and higher。 I read this book so quickly, having suspicions but never knowing who all was involved in this criminal ring or if/when Cooper, Clair and her best friend Jax might be exposed。 My words do not do justice to this review- the book is excellent。 。。。more

CHANGING THE RULES is book one of what is bound to become a most entertaining series。 It features Claire Kelly and Cooper Lockman who have had quite the past。 They were an item many years ago and because of his intense affection for her he could not handle his feelings, heading to Europe for more than five years。 But he could never forget his past nor his roots, finding his way back to her。 Can things be different this time around? This will definitely be tested as the pair now have an assignment to work together as McCain Securities and Solutions has been called in to investigate a possible prostitution ring at the local high school。 This means that Claire has the assignment along with Cooper as they go back to school, and she is meant to appear as young as the students they interact with。 Cooper on the other hand is a substitute teacher able to investigate from a different angle。 It won’t be easy because students today are not exactly welcoming to strangers from outside。 His patient is tested often。 Several girls have gone missing from the school。 It seems they are being trafficked within the community or possibly elsewhere。 Of course their main concern is locating the girls and finding who is behind the prostitution activities, but there are distractions。 If Cooper thought it difficult six years ago to fight his feelings for Claire, absence has truly made the heart grow fonder。 It is difficult being professional here, and they definitely must be discreet so their cover will not be blown。 They suspect certain teachers at the school as perhaps ringleaders, but they have to prove it first of course。 There is a lot of tension and danger, the book far from just a romantic mystery。 It is possible if they get too close to the truth their lives could be in jeopardy, and this blend of tension and romance, makes the book most readable and recommended。 Filled with intriguing characters, the writing of Bybee makes one anticipate future books in the series even more。 。。。more

Cooper and ClaireI love it when authors have series that interconnect with previous series and thIs new one is no exception。 There's a lot of action, suspense and witty dialogue that keep a reader coming back for more。 It was cool seeing Neil and Sasha again and how they support the new characters。 I'm looking forward to the next installment。 Highly recommended。 Cooper and ClaireI love it when authors have series that interconnect with previous series and thIs new one is no exception。 There's a lot of action, suspense and witty dialogue that keep a reader coming back for more。 It was cool seeing Neil and Sasha again and how they support the new characters。 I'm looking forward to the next installment。 Highly recommended。 。。。more

Very interesting book with excellent writing I hoped that Catherine Bybee would explore Claire’s character further and the attraction with Cooper。 This book did a good job of exploring the tragic trafficking crimes and the difficulty with undercover operations to bring these criminals to justice。 It also illustrates the high level of danger in these operations。 Catherine Bybee is an extremely skilled author who does an excellent job with this story while weaving the love story or Claire and Coop Very interesting book with excellent writing I hoped that Catherine Bybee would explore Claire’s character further and the attraction with Cooper。 This book did a good job of exploring the tragic trafficking crimes and the difficulty with undercover operations to bring these criminals to justice。 It also illustrates the high level of danger in these operations。 Catherine Bybee is an extremely skilled author who does an excellent job with this story while weaving the love story or Claire and Cooper into the story。 Agree with the author that Sasha, Claire and Neal McBain are great characters that deserve appearances in multiple books。 。。。more

Yes!Loved attention being brought to this subject。 Trying to nail down the bad guy was fun。 I would’ve read it all in one sitting if I didn’t have to work。 But I always have a hard time putting down Bybee’s books! 😊

Great story Changing the Rules by Catherine Bybee is a very well written and enjoyable story。 The story does a great job at bringing to light how common human trafficking is and happens right under everyone’s noses。

Very solid start to a new series by Catherine Bybee。 This book deals with child human trafficking。 I have read several novels along this plot line and this is definitely the tamest。 It touches on the issue but does not go into graphic detail through the whole story。 Well-developed characters that you can relate to。 They come across as "real" and you find yourself rooting for them。I read this in just a few hours。 I look forward to reading more in this series in the future。 Definitely recommend fo Very solid start to a new series by Catherine Bybee。 This book deals with child human trafficking。 I have read several novels along this plot line and this is definitely the tamest。 It touches on the issue but does not go into graphic detail through the whole story。 Well-developed characters that you can relate to。 They come across as "real" and you find yourself rooting for them。I read this in just a few hours。 I look forward to reading more in this series in the future。 Definitely recommend for fans of this genre。 Thank you #netgalley and #montlake for the eARC。 。。。more

Yet another well written covert crime adventure with romance。 Tough subject for the crime but it was handled sensitively and does raise awareness that unfortunately sex trafficking is still prevalent in the modern times。

Excellent readI really think that Catherine did a great job in writing this story and bringing to light human trafficking。 So many times bad things in life take place right in your backyard。 This subject is tough and scary especially if you have to deal with it and think about what the life of those people can be。 Evil exists sadly but if more people pay attention and try to make changes to stop evil maybe the world could have less evil and more love in it。 Well done Catherine。 Read this story, Excellent readI really think that Catherine did a great job in writing this story and bringing to light human trafficking。 So many times bad things in life take place right in your backyard。 This subject is tough and scary especially if you have to deal with it and think about what the life of those people can be。 Evil exists sadly but if more people pay attention and try to make changes to stop evil maybe the world could have less evil and more love in it。 Well done Catherine。 Read this story, it is so worth it。 。。。more

This is the first book of a new series。 It is a spinoff series and I encourage you to read the other series as well。 This is a good romantic suspense story。 It’s not a heavy story even though it tackles some heavy subjects。 The suspense elements will definitely keep you on your toes。 The romance part is a slow burn and well worth the wait。 I love this book and can't wait for the rest in the series。 This is the first book of a new series。 It is a spinoff series and I encourage you to read the other series as well。 This is a good romantic suspense story。 It’s not a heavy story even though it tackles some heavy subjects。 The suspense elements will definitely keep you on your toes。 The romance part is a slow burn and well worth the wait。 I love this book and can't wait for the rest in the series。 。。。more

Changing the Rules by Catherine Bybee is the first book in a new series called Richter。 Richter is a school that some of the main characters went to。 The boarding school was a private military school - not a nice or easy place to go, and it shaped the characters into what their lives are like now。 (This book follows Sasha’s book: Say It Again (First Wives #5), but it is not necessary to read the prior book in order to enjoy this one。)In this first book, we meet Claire Kelly and her world of MacB Changing the Rules by Catherine Bybee is the first book in a new series called Richter。 Richter is a school that some of the main characters went to。 The boarding school was a private military school - not a nice or easy place to go, and it shaped the characters into what their lives are like now。 (This book follows Sasha’s book: Say It Again (First Wives #5), but it is not necessary to read the prior book in order to enjoy this one。)In this first book, we meet Claire Kelly and her world of MacBain Security and Solutions。 She has been asked to go undercover to figure out where some girls are going。 There is a serious concern of a prostitution ring within a local High School。 Cooper Lockman was pretending to be the new coach of the track team。 He also works for MacBain Security and Solutions。 He has been in Europe for the past 8 or so years。 He left the California branch when he realized how strong his feelings for Claire were, but now they both are older and hopefully the spark is back。 Meanwhile, they both have some serious kickass undercover work to do in order to save more girls from disappearing。 Changing the Rules by Catherine Bybee was an interesting start to a new series in the romantic thriller genre。 。。。more

I was a little confused at times because there was definitely backstory somewhere that I was missing。 I’ve read almost all the other series so I’m assuming there was something there that I just can’t remember but that made me like this less because I didn’t know it couldn’t remember any of this apparent history between Claire and Jax or the school they were at or anything。 Would’ve been nice to have the connection made clear somewhere like “read xyz first” or a prologue or anything。And naturally I was a little confused at times because there was definitely backstory somewhere that I was missing。 I’ve read almost all the other series so I’m assuming there was something there that I just can’t remember but that made me like this less because I didn’t know it couldn’t remember any of this apparent history between Claire and Jax or the school they were at or anything。 Would’ve been nice to have the connection made clear somewhere like “read xyz first” or a prologue or anything。And naturally, right after I wrote this, I saw a comment from someone saying it was the First Wives series which was the only one I haven’t read。 🙄 Of course。 Wish I had known prior and I probably would’ve gone through those first。 。。。more
